As engineers we have a duty to design and deliver projects which have a lower impact on the environment. One way we can do this is by calculating the embodied carbon used in our designs. We explore all traditional materials – masonry, timber, concrete, steel – and hybrids, to arrive at a best-for-project design.
Samuely are able to provide indicative quantities at the early stages of design. Here, quick comparisons can be made on reuse versus new-build, and use of different materials and construction forms. In later stages – as the design matures – we then use volumetric take-offs from our BIM model and other assessment tools to arrive at more accurate values.
Our analysis output is presented using current industry standards and to certification requirements.
