RAAC REMEDIAL WORKS

The RAAC in schools crisis in 2023 allowed us to provide our expertise in solving what was at the time a serious issue for the Department for Education.

Working alongside a contractor we visited 25 schools to undertake an initial inspection, to review the condition of the RAAC panels. Their presence had already been identified by others.

We then provided an initial mitigation strategy designed to allow the school facility to be returned to use.

When this was accepted by DfE we developed a full remediation strategy, based on current IStructE guidelines. Working in conjunction with an architects and services engineers we produced a fully detailed construction package to allow the contractor to commence work.

Our solution, using timber joists, has allowed many of the school buildings to be returned to use for without recourse to demolition.
