This traditional house in Surrey has been extended and transformed inside and out to allow natural daylight to flood into the main reception rooms and to form a visual link with the garden.
The entire rear façade has been altered to create large window openings at ground and first floor levels. The dining room has been transformed with an 8m wide sliding door opening our directly on to the landscaped gardens.
A new first floor terrace has been added which is accessed by the rear bedrooms. Supported by brick piers the terrace soffit is clad in stripped teak to contrast with the ground floor parquet.
The structural works are carefully hidden within the finishes; steel beams are within floors and have been carefully detailed to eliminate downstands and allow for uninterrupted ceiling lines.
