MITCHAM ROAD

A new residential development to replace the existing Wandle Housing Association head office.

We were originally approached to consider the feasibility of converting the two-storey office block into apartments. Following our survey, we concluded that a viable option would be to demolish and reconstruct on a larger footprint and to incorporate 4 floors of accommodation.

We worked closely with the architect and developed a cost-effective design. We were then approached by the winning contractor to work alongside them on a design and build basis.

The structure consists of load bearing masonry walls with precast concrete floors and roof. This relatively lightweight structure allowed us to reuse some of the existing foundations, use new trenchfill footings and eliminate the piled foundations.
