FENNIES, WIMBLEDON

We have worked on several day nurseries with Fennies and have assisted in developing a house style for their brand.

The original building in Wimbledon was a 1980’s, steel framed and brick clad commercial unit, nestled within a residential area.

The structural works included opening up the front and rear façades to add windows and allow light into the heart of the building—the original print studio was rather gloomy.

We then added a single storey extension to the rear to provide open plan spaces for the toddlers and pre-school groups.

The structure for the extension comprised a steel frame with pitched rafters bearing on to columns supported by mass concrete footings. To eliminate visible cross bracing we detailed moment connections in the frame to provide the required lateral stability.
